I got mine today. What a B-Day present.

I'm the IT2 in Sitka, AK, I'll be hanging around here for another year.

Happy Birthday bro, congrats on your extension. I and many others are glad you guys who love Alaska are around to fill those billets so we don't have to.

Funny, I hear all the time, thank goodness for you Alaska homesteaders, and yet the last I heard the powers that be are tired of folks using their assignment priority to stay in a "Geographic Area" indeffinately, and are planning on starting a policy that after an undetermined amount of tours, geographic stability will have been met, and you will be denied your assignment choice. Thats a topic for another thread though. This tour at least I maintained my Alaska residency as well, in Anchorage. I hear gamer will be writing our next servicewide as well. Grats

'Tis true. I've recieved my call that I'll be relieving the SWE\CSE writer position in Petaluma. I'm excited to take over the position and looking forward to the challenge. I've not recieved my orders, but I'm penciled in. Smile

Any more news...no news at CAMSLANT yet. I think there are 6 of us transferring out this year, all with no news at all

Is it true that Priority 5 personnel at either CAMS get "consideration" over other Priority 5 people, and if so what is the justification? Rumor is the detailer told CAMS personnel he gives them special consideration just for being stationed there. I didn't know there were different levels of Pri 5.

When the detailer came here, to CAMSLANT, he told us we have no higher priority over anyone. We are a 5 and however he goes through that list, does anyone really know??? We have one guy who has orders. He is PCS as a ITC and he is going to Hawaii. Nobody else has heard anything. Any 5s out there got orders?

No special consideration. I am stationed at CAMSPAC and only one of my guys got a verbal. Everyone else due to transfer is still waiting.

Geez,
How about giving the detailer some breathing room?

She has until (wait, wait, wait a second longer) 31MAR08 to issue orders.

That is 55+ days away. Curse

55 days is a shortened 210'/270' patrol schedule. (where most of you need to go anyway)

CWO Preboard cuts will be out soon and will affect things drastically for the detailer and who goes where or stays put.
Personnel ordered overseas and underway need screenings & medical exams (many will fail : you folks will fill the void : did you list your #1 Cutter to help the detailer out??)

The rumor about CAMS personnel may be an old relic from the TC/RM days. Back then : due to the lack of female bearthing U/W, time spent at a Commsta/CAMS counted toward seatime required for making CPO. Due to the lack of IT's U/W, this policy is likely shelved today. Sleeping

Here is another rumor I heard.
Folks who complain here are looked up by Ms. Kendall and ordered to their last pick! Wink

Ms. Kendall is no longer our Assignment Officer. Our current Assignment Officer is CWO Thomas.

I figured it must be a bunch of BS, someone disgruntled by losing their billet to someone at a CAMS. I'm sure all the detailers have a little bit of room for some biasing in their decision, but it couldn't be that much because I believe they get reviewed to make sure something like that doesn't happen.

I did not know anyone on here was breathing down the detailers neck. I think we are all just curious to know where people are going and kinda see where we all may be going. This is an open board and really has nothing to do with direct contact with the detailer so whats all the fuss about?

What some seem to forget, is that for us already on cutters waiting till Mar31 makes this very difficult.

For instance; I am underway end of this month begining of Mar timeframe. We get back to homeport end of April, early May... That gives me 4-6 weeks before i have to leave, not alot of time to move me and my wife when i own a home. Most say rely on her, well she is not from the country originally which also means that her abilities are lacking, due to communication issues when dealing with something of this size.

Think about that!

So am i anxious... HE** Yes!! I am one of the few transfering off my boat that doesnt know where he is going. All the others that are still waiting are officers.

Should have added,

That anxiety however, does not mean that i dont understand or respect him, and why it is taking so long. But anxiety can get unbearable at times. I must check my e-mail 50 times a day.

Speaking of email...You may want to check it. Mr. Thomas just sent a status update. He states the following:

"All priority 1 thru 4 departing members should have their orders. If you don't & you fall into this category, please send me an e-mail right away.
For the priority 5 folks, I've had a good wind at my back the past couple weeks and have made good progress. As a result, I hope to complete your slate & have your orders issued nlt 20 February."

If you didn't get it, drop me an email and I'll forward it on.
