Hello all,
Am finally going to school in october and just was seeing if anyone had specific tips other than study hard. For example; specific modules to really work on, stuff that would help me gain alittle more of an edge over my classmates, or things that worked well for you during the school. i will have my epme quals completed and my test finished and (of course hopefully) passed. il be moving with my wife, so at least some good news there. other than that im so excited to finally be going. any help would be apreciative (oh and please keep the replys friendly |

Greetings,
Get here a little early if you can so that you have your housing situated before school actually starts. Have your seabag at 100% and your uniforms looking spiffy. Many arrive from the field without proper uniform items or with thier uniforms not properly maintained/soiled/not proper fit. Remember that A School isn't only about becoming an IT, but also about becoming a Petty Officer. Work on your people skills, your teamwork, and brush up on math concepts prior to arrival, specifically electrical theory. You have a great start if you successfully complete the EPME. Make sure you have an SF 86 propely filled out and submitted and have your financial situation straight. even if you have great financial situations it's always a plus to speak to a CFS to maximize your money prior to travelling. Worry about getting here and looking sharp. The A school staff will help you take care of the academics. Congrats and see you soon! |

I'll be your class advisor for the duration of your time here. Check your CG email tomorrow for my introduction letter and a few other handy tips that will help you on your way out to TRACEN Petaluma.
I'll add to what Chief said and re-emphasize that you should definitely have a full seabag. Tomorrow's email will hopefully answer a lot of your questions, and of course if you have more, we're here to help! Good luck! |

Stay out of trouble! Real easy to get into trouble in Petaluma. If your under 21, don't drink. If your over 21 don't drink and drive, not even a drop. Take the liberty van or a cab if you drink.
Try to get liberty van driver duty. It was the best duty when I went through. It's good that your wife can come and that you will have a POV. Obey the speed limits! Guess the Tracen PD arn't as bad as they used to be, but drive like your doing your behind the whel test. Don't go 1mph over, complete stop for 4 or 5 sec's at stop signs, turn signals. |

O and forgot to say grats on getting orders. Stay out of trouble and get along with your ship/classmates and you'll have a lot of fun.

Be open-minded. If you feel overwhelmed, take a breath, ask questions, and relax. You will need to prioritize. What I mean by this is, know what is important. If partying is your main priority, you will have a difficult time. Use your resources. If you have a problem, bring it to the attention of your class advisor.
