Same boat here, I was told that if you were rated 50% or higher by Va then you would receive it back but now of course noone else has heard of this. I didn't get it back on my taxes though so it didn't hurt me like it did you.

Im currently going through a similiar situation. I received my severance pay which was taxed, and now I'm currently trying to retrieve the taxed portion of it. DFAS calls it somet type of declaration ??? anyhow I had to fax in my DD214,Sep Orders, VA disabilty rating and now they also want me to send my rating from the Army. You would think since they have already paid me this part would be easy.
