I wanted to transfer my post GI bill to my daughter who is 18. I was denied to transfer my 36 months benifit to her. This does not seem right since I have served over 10 years and have six years remaining on my IRR committment. I am 55 yrs old and to old to go back to school. Am I missing something here about the transfer of benefits?
You have to be on active duty status or in the Selected Reserve to transfer your benefits to your daughter. You are on IRR status so you do not meet the eligibility requirement. The Army Policy Letter may be downloaded here: http://www.defenselink.mil/hom...es/2009/0409_gibill/ Center column titled Transferability Policy.
