They keep telling us how important we are and how we deserve the best. This is a very poor example of it. I have retired Air Force friends here in the area I live in and they said when they would go to the MTF they were treated like 2nd class citizens. As soon as they got Tricare Prime they were treated totally different at this same MTF. They were able to get appointments when they needed them and not the brush off. What happens if they take Prime away from us. (Rhetorical question of course.)
All the financial incentives in the world aren't going to change the quality of a bad insurance company. Is the government really that stupid to think a large insurance company like Aetna is going to care about puny government incentives. Or are they just trying to appease us. I've heard a lot about Aetna and none of it has been good. Health Net Federal Services has done a wonderful job. I've had no problems with them at all and I'm not talking about primary care appointments either. I'm talking about having continual care to see a neuro specialist. Whenever a problem's come up they've taken care of it.
TMA says, they're looking for "improved preventive care and cost savings”. Yah, by taking away our Prime and whatever else they can. When you take the cheapest bidder you get garbage and that's what we'll get if Health Net and Humana don't win. My question is what if Aetna does win in the end and they don't do what TMA is looking for and give lousy customer service. How long are we stuck with them? One thing I did read in all of this is that it's the plan with the best value for the government and that explains it all right there! There is absolutely no room for quality care for us in this equation.
