The medical care situation for military (active and retired) as well as veterans in general is a total disgrace that must no continue. The military should have available at least the medical insurance benefits afforded to other government employees. In the case of those members promised medical care "for life", the minimum should be prepaid medical insurance and care equal to that available to other government employees and elected officials.

The VA does not and cannot provide adequate medical care to all the eligible veterans that the law requires. The only way to resolve this is to provide medical insurance to those veterans that cannot obtain medical care comparable to that obtainable via the civilian medical care system.
