RE: http://www.military.com/opinio...15202,193518,00.html

I was medically retired last year for PTSD and TBI from Iraq. I have severe cognitive disabilities and would not be able to go to college even if I wanted too. My wife on the other hand would love for me to be able to transfer the G.I. Bill to her but with the current law I guess it will just go to waste.

If you have a 100% service connected disability rating - your wife should qualify for this program: http://www.gibill.va.gov/pamph...Pamphlet_General.htm

I think the proces of cheating retired Veterans who were serving doing and after 9-11 is a disgrace on the government. I retired in November 2005 after 30 years of military service. I served 13 months in Iraq. I can't believe you would sell me down the road and cheat my daughter and wife out of these benifits. Anyone who served on 9-11 and remained on active duty for at least 3 years after should have the dsame rights. During 2003 and 2004 it was no picnic over in Iraq. We didn't even have hummers. I served my contry with pride, now I'm wondering why some politician is going to cheat me of my lawful rights. Have the people making these discission or their family members ever been to war or served their country in the military services?? Once again, it should be pre-dated to anyone on active duty on 9-11 and have served for another 3/4 years. This is a total insult to the Veterans of this proud country.

I am so disappointed in Congress for not allowing previously retired active duty members, that served during and after 9/11, to transfer their benefits to their dependents. We served during Post 9/11 and should not be excluded. It doesn't make any sense.

If there concern is the cost and the benefits of the taxpayers, they should evaluate all of the fraud, waste, and abuse within the military and the government before limiting benefits for those who faithfully served their country. I'm sure when Congress votes on their own benefits, the taxpayers and cost are the last thoughts in their minds.

The government's frivolous spending and lack of concern for the taxpayers is what got us into the situation our country is in now. So let's start with not giving our military men and women the benefits they earned??? Absolutely ridiculous!

My husband and I both paid to use our GI Bill. I even paid an extra $600 to receive additional benefits. We're not getting any of our money back?? I served during 9/11 and 7 years after. My husband served during 9/11, 8 years after and he served in theater on several occasions. Why don't we qualify for the transferability of our GI Bill????

This is so wrong on so many levels.

You're exactly right and I'm sure all vets will agree with you. Congress needs to remember the US Government is an equal opportunity employer and they're suppose to pass laws where every person receives the same benifits. I really don't understand how Congress is allowed to determine those Vets who will have, and those Vets who will have not. It's simply wrong on all fronts. I advocate all the Vets sueing Congress for being unfair and disrespectful.
