RE: http://www.military.com/opinio...15202,194547,00.html

I am the spouse of a retired Navy veteran who served for 24 years, retiring in 2006. Our daughter was able to get a full academic scholarship for the first two years of college to attend a local community college. However today we just helped her complete loan applications amounting to a total of $12,000 for her Junior year. This is without books.

On another note, I have just completed a grad program, switching from social work to teaching, putting us in the hole for another $25,000 on top of the remaining $10,000 left over from my undergrad program. I realize that education is always a good investment, but if there is a huge benefit such as this one, why can't my husband elect to help our daughter with this benefit? I am writing my congressman today. Other than getting my voice heard by writing is there anything I else I can do?

Other than getting everyone you know to write your/their congressional representatives - no.
