How does the new GI Bill help the Veteran? If they pay the school directly then that leaves the member with nothing in hand to pay for extra expenses. Most military members who leave the service have a family, and they have to work, and can not go to school full time or 3/4 time....so thanks but no thanks. Very few if any State or Private colleges offer full night time programs for undergraduates. That will only work at a community college for the first two years. So, basically if I need to utilize my benefits to my full potential I have to be enrolled full time and they will pay my rent? What kind of crap is that? Plus, like everything with the government, they are going to give us 1000 dollars a year for books...when? Is it 8 months later after I already have 700 bucks piled up on my credit card, still waiting on my benefit to kick in? At least now, if there is a couple of hundred dollars left over, I can pay for my books in a timely manner, and I can pay for parking passes and the other administrative fees that tend to pile high when going to school. The only blessing I see is that the tuition will be paid in full regardless of what school you choose.
