RE: http://www.military.com/opinion/0,15202,124699,00.html

I am a veteran myself. I left active duty after 14 years when my husband's career (I married him five years earlier) took a turn that made it difficult to maintain the stability of our household as a dual service family. Eleven years later he retired after 24 years. We have now been married over twenty years and he has found a younger woman he want to be with. I have diabetes, a heart condition and could stand to lose a few pounds (he has gained more than I since he left active service). I will be almost impossible to insure. However, since the overlap period of our marriage is less than 20 years of service. I will be out of luck in maintaining my current doctors and treatment without the Tricare Prime Retiree support I was promised by him when we made the decision to only live with one retirement. My work does not have insurance. I do not live near a VA hospital, and I still have kids to raise (and hope for Grandkids in the near future). I put to many eggs in his basket! The comissary and exchange priveledges are nice when we are traveling and near those amenities. However, my life depends on the medical care.
