Sounds good so far. I'm actually embarressed that are new, so-called, great VA chief would even propose that to Congress. He should have told Obama where to stick it when it was first mentioned but I guess he needs the job.

absolutely unbeliveable, so Obama wants to start his experiment with socialized medicine with the VA. The cannot handle the people they were put in place to care for much less every swinging richard with an honorable discharge and a sense of entitlement.

And on top of that he apparently would like us all to be unemployed, you can bet a bunch of disbled vets will find themselves without a job when the cost of the employers health inurance skyrockets when the start doing the governments job.

Really good job, got his wife sucking hind tit to the military community while he slide the knife in back, and his puppet general is just playing along like the good little lap dog he apparently is. Give me a god**** break. If you cannot afford to take care of the warriors don't fight the damn war!!!!!!!!! Or put the uniform on yourself and have at it.

I am 100 percent service connected and am eligible for total VA services. Whenever I go to the VA they always ask me if I have civilian insurance and yes I do. I have BC/BS and Medicare and they always charge BC/BS for any thing they do including my medication and I am to receive it free. I was reading this story and they said that they were considering charging the civilian insurance companies, as far as I know they already are and have been ever sence I started going to the VA which was in 2004. Someone should check in to this and if they have been charging BC/BS of Tennessee when they wern't allowed to then they should give BC/BS a refund of what they have paid.

FINALLY, a new President who gets it. For years
the VA has been treated like the ugly stepchild
especially during the last Administration led by
two morons; one who barely served and the other
who kept getting deferments. Of course these two geniuses didn't care if yours or my kids got crippled or killed as long as it wasn't theirs. Anyway the VA finally is getting funded the way it should be and that is great.
One word of caution though, I ask everyone who is reading this to write to your Congressmen/woman and Senator to ask that BONUSES to the top tier of VA Employees be STOPPED, remember, more money in the budget and more chances for skimming off the top. For the record the AP reported that in fiscal 07 VA paid out $3.8M, that's right, MILLION to reward the "empty suits with stuffed shirts" who run the joint while most facilities ran "short handed" and this crap has to STOP. Being retired from the VA for 10 years I have been trying to get this story aired for at least the last 5 years and hardly anyone in the media wants to touch this. You can contact me personally at Ronbocop55@comcast.net and I will bring you up to speed as to what I have done and continue to do. I need everyone's help to take a shot at this, letters to members of your delegation, and, calls, letters to your local media. We have a President who doesn't believe in rewarding MISmanagement and GREED and now is the time for we veterans, regardless of our status, and our families to BAND together and stop this crap once and for all. If VA does this BONUS crap how many other agencies are doing the same thing???

I can support the idea of using Medicare Dollars to pay VA for medical care for eligible veterans (which I am), but along that same line VA should tap Medicade for the care costs of the poor or homeless veterans receiving Medicade also. However, I feel that any moneies received from Medicare or from any other entity should serve primarily to lower or eliminate the veterans' co-pay and not to contribute to the VA budget

I am Priority Group 1 with 60% SC. When I had BC/BS VA sent a bill to my civilian insurance for evertyhing they treated me for. When the cost of insurance reached almost $30,000 per year for me alone, I had to cancel and now the VA gets no reimbursement and I go to VAMC for all medical care. I think it is right what the VA and this administration is doing. They are only considering alternatives while doing the best possible for those who deserve it. The previous administrations did nothing of this level for us.
