The Ex Spouse Law Dodge! Perfect title for a crime that the congress has visited on service members. I know of a true case of a pre-medidatated case of adultery being rewarded by the soldier losing half his army retired pay to an adulterous wife who caused the divorce after 17-years. This adulteress and the congress are culpable for the crime of theft of his ret. pay. Cowardly corruption and the feminist vote is as far as you have to look. Shame on the elected cowards who stab our soldiers, male or female, in the back. The adulteress should be prosecuted for fraud and theft. The army was written to about this injustice but nothing has resulted for several years. " Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice and cowardice in pursuit of justice no virtue." Sen. Its obvious Miss vulgar mouth is a gold digger and would probably yank the gold from her ex's teeth if she could. Enough of her. What we need is a a good forum to attack this problem of spouses who are greedy and love to go for the throat and take their Military spouses for whatever they can get. I hope Tom Philpot is listening, Thank you for your devotion to the Military community!!!! Now for my ideas...(1) Our Mil pension is a Govt. check and so is the check that congress receives. Since there both Govt. checks Treat them equal and allow their pension to be in jeopardy as ours. (2) Lets educate our Military on Financial Divorce consequences, verbage to use in their divorce decree. I went through a 10 yr divorce and have verbage in my divorce decree that would allow my ex a small portion of my retirement, so far the calculation is that she would receive approx. $50 - $70/mo. and it has the ability to shrink as time goes on (touchy situation). Now that I'm retired I don't think of it as much but, I do care about the effects on our future protectors.
The problem is that active duty are not briefed on the USFSPA. Is the DoD afraid to brief for fear of falling retention? Yes, the proper verbage is needed in divorce decrees. To often clarification is needed and this opens the door for additional % awards to be unfairly made to former spouses. VA disability should never be considered in % awards, but judges are out of control and do it anyways. Are you all aware that there are retired military members who have been forced to give up 100% of their retainer pay and 100% of their VA disability pay leaving them with NOTHING after all their years of service only to go to a greedy civilian former spouse. I understand the hardships of a military marriage, but it does not equate to a lifetime of benefits!
Well now, Ms. Vulgar, F.Y.I. I am a woman! I am a current spouse and I am not here to get into a shoutin' match with you. I just want to tell you your attitude and outlook on this is about 99% wrong. You should in no way be entitled to a % of military retainer pay, especially for LIFE! Not much in life is a "forever" thing and certainly being indebted to a former spouse should not be one of them. Child support is totally different but at least that ends. I am sure you are re-married, let your current husband take care of you. Why do you expect your 1st husband to do it the rest of your life? Sounds like you hate him, but you want his money. Stand on your own two feet and take care of yourself! Enough of you! You are the problem!! We are here to find solutions.
It is always interesting to me when people point to the cheating wife - who do you think they are cheating with? Her ex husband and mine that's who!

As for being remarried, you bring up an interesting point. My ex paid me ZERO in alimony, and he pays NOTHING towards our daughter's college tuituion which is $20,000 a year IN-STATE. I am paying her tuition...ME...because I don't want her to come out of school at 22 and in debt up to her eyes.
IMO a child does not become financially disinfranchised from his/her parents just because they reached the age of 18. In marriages where there is no divorce parents happily pay for their child's college tuition together....or maybe you're just going to throw your kid out on the street at age 18? Nice....
As for what I do for a living....well, again, I AM putting my daughter through school so I can't be doing too badly, eh?
