It's long overdue, but at least it's a start. The Reserves and National Guard have been taking their turn in the deployment merry go round just like the active duty troops.

I would agree its long overdue, but I think the minimum deployment time requirement of 90 days sucks! Its a start, but the National Guard needs to stop being treated like the evil step-children of the military. We do our share and then some!

I agree too, the 90 day part sucks. But at least someone is trying to get the retirement lowered for us.

I thank them for that.

We have been trying for years to reduce the retirement age Reserve and Guard members.

Hopefully this will pass and be signed. This is from a Republican so he may have worked something out with his buddies to make sure the President signs this one. We'll see...

I think this is long over due. I turned 60 this March and retired from the National guard with 27 years of service and spent 2004 in the Sand Box.
If this ever passes will I get a year of retired pay for my year in the Box?

we should have the same retirement as active duty components. We should draw our retirement upon 20 yrs, with incremental increases up to age 60... then draw our full retirement.

It sucks that it only applies if you deploy. Some Reserve/National Guard must stay behind activated to support those that deploy. No distinction is made for retirement of active duty that must stay behind for support. Everything should be equal!
