It is a shame our country has continued to turn its back on retired veterans and veterans overall. It has taken me 15 years to finally get a 100% disability rating. Every few years I would resubmit paperwork and wait to see it slowly go up. I finally appealed their rating and had a in camera hearing in front of the Board of Veterans' Appeals. This was done with the help of the fine people who work for the Disabled American Veterans. It is just a shame that veterans have to suffer for so long to receive benefits that they rightfully deserve. They need to revamp the VA system and if they want to continue to have a volunteer military, the american public needs to insure that those military individuals who are injured get the benefits they deserve.

i have read all postings and am sorry to say that as far as the National Guard aiding activated soldiers, it is not going to happen. Recently, i sent a letter to our states govenor to ask why a tax exemption card was not issued to dependents of deployed guardsmen due to the absence of a commissary, i asked why the states MEDTAC and DENTAC units were not maid available to dependents (since they and the band have been the only units not to deploy from the state). The response was that once under title 10, the state no longer has any responsibility for the soldiers, they care, but can do nothing. Upon return, most injured guardsmen are finding that procedures within the guard and active duty conflict and the time it takes to get help in compounded by this. Allow me to apologize to every guardsman for the national guard bureau because they will not apologize to you.

THE SOLUTION......Close down all the VA Hospitals and Clinics.....Give the Vets a Free health Insurance including Medicine which would allow him to go to the doctor of his choice in his own home town....the money would be spent directly on health care, not on bricks and mortor which costs 2 of every 3 dollars of the budget.....Why won't they do this????? Because their main objective is not to help Vets......it is about MINORITY EMPLOYMENT...ABOUT POLITICS

I personnaly am discusseded with the va system. The Navy med board system tried to kick me out at 18 years of service, because I was sick. I fought back and retired with a 10% disability rateing in 1994. In Nov 2006 the va upgraded my status to 80%. I hate paperwork, but I'm getting pretty good at it. Mad
