Joined military in '86, paid into the MGIB, and retired last Dec. I was initially excited about the prospect of new laws enacted last year in behalf of veterans but now I'm perturbed about the lack of clarity regarding "who can use what" educational benefits. A great many of us were in the service prior to and after 9/11 and the new rules don't take effect until 01 Aug '09? Do vets in my category have an option of choosing between the MGIB and Post 9/11 benefits? Or are we automatically "grandfathered" in to the new rules with expanded benefits?
