Yeah, I'm a military brat. I was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany in 1982. My mother is in the military, my father was in the military, I have two stepfathers that was in the military, I have couple of uncles that been in the military, I have an uncle that served in Vietnam, matter of fact, his daughter, my cousin, is in the Navy. The highest ranked person in my family was a Master Sgt that served in WWII.

Now how about you, Sgt Mom? I remember you. You was the one banned my post last year. No hard feelings though.

All my life my dad was Army, we were in Idaho; Fort Lewis Washington; Bremerhaven, Germany, and Fort Huachuca, Arizona. Graduated from high school and joined the Air Force. Stayed in Texas mostly, married a Marine! Now, if I have had something to do with the Coast Guard, I'd have all the branches covered. I was probably luckier than most since we moved around, but not much. Dad tended to get the unaccompanied tours alot. Oh well, such is life. We are not military anymore, but hubby does work as a civilian very closely with the army, so it's almost like we are sometimes.

Born Raised and Trained. Hi my name is Kim. I was born in San Diego, Ca. My father was in the Navy for over twenty years, lived in Virginia, Florida, Iceland. My brother is currently a sonar tech on the USS Alabama. My stepdad is also in the Navy, stationed in Millington, TN. Also my brother in-law was in the Army but in now in the Af reserves. So pretty much the military life is what my family knows and loves. I am considering joining the AF. Big Grin

Wow I didn't know there was such a thing as a grandbrat!! LOL Well I am 2 times a Navy grandbat and once an Army grandbrat in that case. How funny. All these years and I never knew. Just kidding.

Actually, I'm just a plain old Army brat, born while Dad was in Basic. I loved growing up military, wouldn't trade it for anything, but it was rough leaving my friends so often. I just learned how to be my own best friend and how much fun you can have with your own family.

There's 5 kids in my family, I'm the oldest, and everyone always tells me, "your family looks like so much fun!" We learned the truth behind the saying, "it's what you make it" and so we figured if we gotta be stuck with each other, we might as well enjoy it!

Hm, Mom and Dad don't take us out to eat much anymore, besides the fact that that would be super-expensive, they know that no matter how hard we try, there will be spitballs and flying straw wrappers and laughing fits and soda coming out people's noses and stirring soda into someone's mashed potatoes when they go to the bathroom and pouring syrup into someone's coke, etc. things like that tend to cause a scene. Sometimes a disturbance. Yeah, we get weird looks all the time. (but we wind up giving them back, so it's okay.)

I was born into the Corps in Cheyenne, Wyo(Warren AF Base) while the Sgt Maj was on recruiting duty. Grew up around Camp Lejeune, NC from 53-70. We moved to Nashville, Tn after the Sgt Maj's return from his 2nd tour in Vietnam. He landed on Guadalcanal with 2/5 1st Mar Div. In 1970 I joined the Corps as the 4th of 6 Marines in my family, but that's not unusual. I come from a long line of Scottish warriors going back deep into history, including George Armstrong Custer.

Growing up, calling us civilians was fighting words. We'd tell you right quick we were Military Dependents, and we were willing to knock your teeth out to reinforce the point.

The best thing about dad being Aviation Ordnance was he always got stationed at or near Naval Air Stations. The Navy airshows are the best in the world bar none.

Military Brats are just as big a part of the Military as the spouses and those in the military. No one ever dared called us Civis(like town folk etc). Of course, living in 29 Stumps and Camp Lejuene...didn't have to leave very much for us....we'd loved it around there.

My name is Deanna and I was born at Dover AFB in 1970. Dad was stationed in Germany, Dover (again), Louisiana, California, Italy and finally Texas. I married a Sailor, which Dad still doesn't understand, and have 2 Navy Brats. I love being a part of the military. As a kid it was fun moving every few years. Yes, it was tough leaving friends but making new friends was fun for me and my siblings. In fact if I am in one place for too long, I get restless. I have civilian friends and they have no clue to what it is like being a Navy wife or a military brat. I enjoy sharing my childhood stories and experiences. Plus being a brat has made it easier being a spouse, I saw mom dealing with moves; remote tours; alerts and the different shifts that dad worked. Would not trade this life for any amount of money!!

Navy brat. I was born in Portsmouth, VA, and growing up lived in Miss., Cuba, NJ, , IL, NE,and CA. Dad always said I couldn't date sailors, I think that is why he retired to Nebraska. So I married an AF man. Go figure. While married lived in Germany, NE, NM, Alaska, back to NM, and am now living in TX. Only bad thing about growing up in the Navy, is that now about every two years I get the feeling that it is time to move.

I grew up an Air Force brat, living in Mississippi, Oklahoma, Guam, Korea and Texas. Fortunately I did most of the moving around when I was young. Then the unthinkable happened, my dad got orders to England right before I went into 9th grade. Travelled to Germany and Belgium, before moving back to Texas where my dad retired. I joined the Army right out of high school, was stationed at Fort Benning, Ga, where I met and married my husband, and had two children. As a family, we lived in NY and Texas, and now with my husband retiring, we're done moving. What a life, I wouldn't trade it for anything.
