While looking for something else I came across this Pennsylvania-issued CG Aux license plate. Does anyone know of other states that special plates for CG Aux?

You should learn to google.

A simple search set up as (with the quotes):

"coast guard auxiliary" "license plate"

yielded the North Carolina application as the first result.

Texas was the second.

I'll let you find the rest. Cool

Florida does not...

And probably never will.

quote:
The basic requirements are: The organization must hire an independent survey company to conduct a survey on Florida registered motor vehicle owners, an application fee of $60,000, a long-term and short-term marketing plan, financial analyses and the design of the license plate. The requirements must be submitted to the Department 90-days before the first day of the legislative session.

Further:

quote:
Methodology: An organization that seeks authorization to establish a new specialty license plate must submit the results of a scientific sample survey of Florida motor vehicle owners that indicates at least 30,000 motor vehicle owners intend to purchase the proposed specialty license plate at the increased cost.

Since there are only about 6,000 Auxies in FL, I doubt the survey is even worth doing.

In Kentucky you get the normal USCG tag with a Auxiliary sticker underneath.

IMHO, thats just WRONG!!! Who's to say someone will purposely leave the Auxiliary Sticker off? May have to fire off a letter to the powers to be.

If the added funds for the vanity plate (named for a reason) go to a useful purpose in support of the organization -- who cares.

I have a Florida USCG plate on my truck (no option for an Auxiliary plate) -- it promotes the service to those driving behind me, and provides added funds to the State Home for Verterans Trust Fund... I could have bought an Army, Air Force, Navy, or Marine plate and done the same thing...no requirement to have served in the particular branch that the plate represents...

To procure an Armed Forces plate, one should be REQUIRED to show their DD214 and or show proof that they were in fact, a VETERAN. Want to promote the Coast Guard? Go buy a sweatshirt. Wink

Flyandscuba, how much did it cost? Was it at a discount intended for Veterans?

When the clerk at the courthouse places the sticker it won't peel off too easily Razz

SearchNRescue,

The vanity plates actually cost more than a regular tag -- with the proceeds going to a charitable organization (in this case the Veteran's Home).

A Florida resident can purchase most of the available vanity plates. Some, like the Medal of Honor, Purple Heart, Paratrooper, etc. plates do have additional requirements.

However, the service branch plates (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines & Coast Guard) do not.

See the earlier posted link for more information:

The only plates here you need lots of paperwork for is the Purple Heart, Silver Star, Distingued/Air Force/Navy Crosses, and MOH plates. You have to have your dd214, orders, and the certificate. We dont play games.
