This could just be a competition for potential members who are interested in volunteer emergency response, but who knows for sure:

If You Lose Your Stars, Form Your Own Organization and Make Yourself a 'general'

From Mediadevice, the company that built the website for the U.S.Ranger Corps:

quote:
Latest Client
Client: U.S. Ranger Corps
Date Completed: 05/2008

The United States Ranger Corps is a volunteer organization who perform services such as search & rescue and community service. The USRC works closely with the U.S. Military and Law Enforcement entities all over the country and already have a high number of members currently activated.

This site consists of a custom design, tons of pages which is a mix of public pages and hidden members only pages. This site also contains a content management system (CMS) which gives the site owners the ability to update their own site when ever they choose. To see the site, please visit www.USRangerCorps.us

Florida Non Profit Corporation Filing: U.S. RANGER CORPS, INC

And one of the most bizarre turn of events is that the man and org that brought down the Posse and its leader is encouraging him (to some extent):

CAP Insights Input on the U.S. Ranger Corps., Inc.

I laughed at the part about the uniforms having "lots of gold braid."

what did this former CAP National Commander do to get kicked out of CAP?

Here is the official CAP version:

U.S. CAP Board of Governors removes national commander

quote:
The U.S. Civil Air Patrol’s Board of Governors voted in a teleconference the night of Oct. 2 to remove Maj. Gen. Antonio J. Pineda from his position as CAP national commander.

The board’s action comes two months after the chairman of the Board of Governors, Maj. Gen. Richard Bowling, announced the 11-member board had suspended the CAP national commander for a period of up to 180 days. The suspension occurred after the board convened a special Aug. 5 meeting to receive the initial CAP inspector general’s Report of Investigation concerning allegations that a Florida Wing member took U.S. Air Force Air Command and Staff College tests for Pineda in 2002 and 2003.

The guy that admitted taking the tests for Pinada is the guy that runs CAPInsights. I believe he resigned under pressure from CAP rather then get 2Bed for some other trumped up charge by a Posse member. I'm not sure if he is back in CAP or not.

Allegedly, Pineda and two other high ranking CAP officers will be (or have been) stripped of a high level bravery award. Allegedly they fraudulently awarded it to themselves for an incident that never happened. The CAPInsights guy also brought that to light.

Then there were numerous allegations of Command Abuse of Authority for 2Bing (the CAP equivalent of an Aux disenrollment/dismemberment) anyone who disagreed with (or exposed the alleged corruption of) Pineda or his Posse.

But the test taking charge was the only one they needed to boot his butt out the door.

From today's News of The Force:

quote:
Is the new U.S. Ranger Corps trying to steal CAP members away?

Sources tell News of the Force that former CAP national commander Tony Pineda, CAP Col. Eileen Parker, and former CAP Col. Bill Lynch - and a few others - have been making calls to CAP members across the country, and inviting people they think may be disgruntled to join Pineda's new "U.S. Ranger Corps."

"Join now, be in from the beginning!" their sales pitch says.

"Right now, there seems to be an insurrection brewing at the CAP's West Broward (Florida) squadron," a source said. "The unit has about 65-70 members, but less than 25 are cadets. They've gone through four commanders in less than a year, and the current one is a real turkey, an over-weight sloth that has a minimal grasp of CAP, other than the fact that his son is a cadet there," the source says. "The majority of the senior members there are prior service types (mostly Army and Marines) who work at SOUTHCOM in Miami, are more interested in the operations side of the house and are very unhappy with this guy. I'm wondering if Pineda is using West Broward as the breeding ground for the 'U.S. Ranger Corps' first 'battalion.'"

I wonder if they will have a maritime unit and if Grand Admiral of the Fleet is there for the taking?

HA! We had the exact same thing happen to us in the Judo World. The president of the United States Judo Association was kicked out of his office for various reasons including alleged mismanagement of funds, alleged improper coaching behavior, etc.

He then started his own group where he promoted himself to 10th degree black belt.

If you're going to do something outrageous like promote yourself, why stop at 10th degree?

What a POS. Thank goodness he did join the Auxiliary.

I feel bad for CAP, one bad apple and he makes the whole tree look bad.

With the problems between the USAF and CAP that already existed, that couldn't have helped.

This is from NOTR of 05 May 2008.

quote:
Report: Pineda gave himself a third star

Sources told NOTF yesterday that ousted Civil Air Patrol national commander and former Maj. Gen. Tony Pineda had promoted himself to lieutenant general and had created his own "paramilitary organization" within the CAP.
Pineda, who liked to make up his own uniforms and was reportedly mistaken for a Mexican air force general during Hurricane Katrina recovery operations in New Orleans, was ousted, stripped of his rank and removed from the CAP by it's Board of Governors last year, apparently before he began wearing his self-awarded third star.

In response to an e-mail inquiry from NOTF, Civil Air Patrol Interim National Commander Brig. Gen. Amy S. Courter wrote, "I don't have anything to add. I had heard the same thing, but hadn't cared to check it out."

The Civil Air Patrol is the uniformed, civilian Auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force.

CAP may want to put the whole Pineda affair behind them but it should root all all remnants of whatever that paramilitary organization was. First, secret organizations have no place in public orgs like CAP and the Aux. Second, those types of activities have a way of festering and infecting or re-infecting the whole organization at a later date. I don't think I need to go over again, how the denizens of the Blue Light District managed to infect several other districts in the Aux. The Aux is still running a 'vacinatation' program to get rid of the last of those infected with Blue Lightitis.

I wonder if that 'paramilitary organization' carried or were training with firearms and if so - to what end? CAP already salutes and uses military titles so what more 'military' was the para-military group doing?

This outfit ought to join up with the highly invisible Border Patrol Auxiliary. They could then perform both rescue missions and secure our country from invaders. I am sure there is enough rank to go around for everyone.

A reported member of the US Ranger Corps is back in the news. The CAP Florida Ranger School had its operations suspended the other day. This was reported on NOTF today. The US Ranger Corps connection is at the end.

quote:
FLORIDA CIVIL AIR PATROL OFFICER, TWO CADET OFFICERS SUSPENDED FOR 'HAZING'

The Civil Air Patrol's Florida Wing has suspended CAP Maj. Randall Cason, who is in charge of the wing's Ranger School program; his son, Ryan; and Thomas Giles - both cadet officers - for the "hazing" of cadets at the Florida Wing's Ranger School.

Cadet Giles is the son of the Florida Wing's vice commander, CAP Lt. Col. Art Giles, who is himself a CAP "Ranger."
Although suspended, those involved are considered innocent pending the outcome of an investigation that was initiated after a formal complaint was filed against them.

As NOTF has previously reported, Maj. Cason, a former police officer, is a convicted felon, having been convicted of bribery in Florida. According to a City of Miami police report dated March 3, 1986, obtained exclusively by NOTF: "On Thursday, August 29, 1985, Ofc. Cason was observed driving a grey van northbound on 37th Avenue and was subsequently stopped. An investigation revealed that inside the van was a Browning 9-mm pistol, a badge case containing money ($1,000), and a receipt for the purchase of four (4) City of Miami police badges from Dade Police Products. An additional $1,000 was retrieved from Ofc. Cason's residence. The money retrieved from the van ($1,000) and the money ($1,000) retrieved from Ofc. Cason's residence was found to be in fact city funds that was given to Officer Clausell by a confidential informant for weapons conversions and the supplying of police badges."

Although the police report goes on for numerous pages and lists numerous charges against Cason - such as violations of state laws and police department regulations and policies - it is interesting to note that agents of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) were involved in the investigation, arrest and prosecution of Cason. Amzingly, Cason is a long-time friend of former FDLE special agent and ousted CAP national commander Tony Pineda, and has apparently joined Pineda's "U.S. Ranger Corps."

Makes our "Blue Light Specials" look very minor when comparing.

Several months ago I appointed myself "Supreme High Poobah of the Galaxy", or something like that, the royal memory is hazy. I can't remember any of these bozos asking my blessing for their private army. Therefore it doesn't exist.
I have spoken (figuratively)! Cool
