Interesed to know the norm here. Personally, I have difficulty finding the time to involve myself completely in one organization.

Question:
How many service organizations (USCG AUX, CAP, USPS, Police Aux, Vol Fire, Rescue Squad, REACT, radio league, etc.) do you belong to at the same time?

Choices:
1
2
3
4
5+

Given your intro paragraph and what I think your intent is, I would recommend changing "belong to" to "actively involved in" in the question. I think it is concurrent activity that you are trying to get at not simple 'belongingness'.

I am a dues paying (or Life Member) of more then a dozen organizations but during my stint in the Aux I was only actively involved in one other, the USPS. After 9/11/01, my status in the USPS dwindled to dues paying only status.

Since my stint in the Aux and the huge time committment that went with it is over, I have rekindled my activity in the USPS. On the recommendation of a dual hatted Aux/USPS member I will be teaching the USPS Weather course this year. That is the same course I used to teach in the Aux.

I was a dues paying only member of the ARRL for over 20 years. With the former Aux time freed up, I joined the local ARRL affiliated radio club and am now a photo id card carrying ARES/RACES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service/Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service) volunteer. I am also a card carrying member of SkyWarn, having recently completed that training.

My application to the National Map Corps is submitted. Since my Aux time is now freed up, I plan on using my Life time Hunting license I bought when I moved to Florida 9 years ago but never used. Since I'm plan on being out in the swamp anyway, I volunteered to help maintain the topo map of the swamp I plan on hunting in. Sort of killing two birds with one stone.
