Gustav will cause a few of you to lose contact with the rest of the forum. How about checking in after the storm clears??

Good storm tracker here.

No, just like during Katrina, I "self-activated" Wink

We moved a local nursing home to higher ground just before the storm hit. You may read a lot about New Orleans not "learning the lessons from Katrina" but my experience was just the opposite. Most people prepared like it was going to be another Katrina. Moving the nursing home this time was so flawless that it felt like a "simulation exercise".

The new communications specialized flotilla was online before during and after on the AUX NO RPTR with backup on Marine VHF **A as simplex backup.

Someone made a comment "except as grunt labor" in an earlier thread. You have no idea how much extra people (without any special skills) can help when it comes to moving patients and accessories.

A true volunteer knows that the thing in shortest supply during an emergency is "grunt labor." Particularly grunt labor that can execute simple commands without further clarification.
