SitRep has started its NACON 2007 coverage.

In the photo section of the Committee of the Whole is a pix with this caption: Acting CHIDIRAUX CDR Welicka.jpg

So what happened to the 'old' ChDirAux and why was no announcement made of same?

BTW - rumor has it that all of the proposals that were going to be put forward by NACO Steve and the Nat Board were withdrawn. Rumor further has it that the DCOs and VCOs (future DCOs) were up in arms over the staff and NACO Steve's attempt at a palace coup. I understand that the article in the Proceedings got some circulation and that was what sparked the revolt. Some of the big bones of contention:

1. Selection not nomination panels for elections.

2. Multi-tiered quals for Comm Specialists

3. An apparent attempt to force VCOs or other candidates for DCOs to take a specified course or they would be ineligible for DCO election. Said course taught by the Cabal of the Past NACO Gene, Past NAVCOS Carol and NACO Steve.

How does the King stage a palace coup?

The Hospitality session at Sector Portland was nice. A little crowded but decent food. However, the famed "Moose Milk" didn't do anything for me...tasted more or less like a melted milkshake. If it was supposed to have a "kick", I sure didn't notice it.

The CHDIRAUX was there and had to leave early for very good personal reasons.

LifeBoatUSA:

Thanks for the come-back by why is someone else referred to as Acting ChDirAux. Just because he had to leave early doesn't mean someone else is the Acting ChDirAux.

RiverAux:

NACO vis-a-vie the DCOs is supposed to be a 'First Among Equals'. This one and the last one tend to think they rule by Divine Right and forget that the DCOs are pretty much the Lords and Masters of their sub-domains. Initial reports from several sources make it seem that NACO tried a Palace Coup by asserting (by implication anyway) Divine Right. The DCOs made Portland his Runnymede and NACOKing Steve apparently had to withdraw all of his proposals before they all got defeated.

The same thing happened to NACOKing Gene during his last hurrah. He had to withdraw the proposals that would have allowed his business buds and NAVCOS to run for district and national office without ever being elected Auxiliary Dog Catcher - like every other officer had to be.

BTW and FWIW - prior to NACON I had gotten several reports (that I kept quiet about) that NACOKing Steve had decreed that there would be no public dissent at this NACON. Any dissent (and there wasn't supposed to be any at all) was to be handled/crushed at the three area meetings by the ARCOs. When that failed NACOKing Steve had to execute Plan B - tuck tail and head for the hills - the natives got restless and were in no mood to be dictated to.

FlyAndScuba - you move fast. From NACON over the weekend to flying over the Gulf on Monday. That is some fast footwork.

It has been a long week... Arrived in Portland on Sunday the 26th and returned Saturday night at 9:00pm. Flying out again tomorrow afternoon for a week of work in Broward. Living out of a suitcase is a way of life for me some months.
