Has the Aux policy statement put out a while back been updated recently? Someone I know in the CG said it showed up as a new item in CGCentral in late September?

Was talking about the Commandants policy statement regarding the Auxiliary, not the "business plan".

The 'strategic plan' was another typical Auxie project. By that - an elected leader (NACO) decided something was good for the Aux and rammed it down the Aux's throat. The culprit was NACO Gene and his 'the Aux is a business and should be run like one' philosophy. For 4 years, he and his side-kick and follow-on NACO, Steve, rammed the strategic plan down the DCOs throats.

If you ever read the district plans - most were just cookie cutter versions or worse straight boiler-plate of the National plan.

For all the 'sound and fury' the strategic plan had no impact on the Aux at all. The most interesting document that GNat Aux produced the last few years was the Doomsday Scenario - but it looks like that was removed from NACO's web site.

The "Meltdown Analysis" is still available. (Remove a few spaces to make the link viable.)

Some interesting items noted in the "Meltdown Analysis:"

Optimize organizational structure

Shift Aux operations to an “unpaid reserve.”

Reward members
a. Fun
b. Fellowship
c. Satisfaction
d. Patriotic feeling

Motivation – “no boater left behind”

Develop and implement an Auxiliary image-marketing plan...

Activate as a temporary volunteer reserve

Fund the Auxiliary as a congressional line item.

Institute a fee for service policy from broad, diverse, arenas
a. Charge for SAR response
b. Take donations
c. Charge for supporting entities such as Corps of Engineers, counties, states

Redefine operational missions
a. Focus on SAR, direct operational support, security
b. Minimize others, such as safety patrols

Use joint operations and resources with others such as Civil Air Patrol, United States
Power Squadrons.

Give up operations and focus solely on RBS.

The interesting thing is that he was the NACO when you were disenrolled for disciplinary reasons. Things that make you go...Hmmmmmmm

Sorry to disappoint but you are off by one. It was NACO Steve.

All well and good if you are national staff but any benefit to the membership or the CG or the boating public seems to take a back seat to a bunch of empire builders scrivening mindless Trumpisms.

So, since no one has actually addressed the document in question, I will assume that I got some bad intel and that there has not actually been any update of the Commandant's Aux policy statement as originally released a few years ago.

Riveraux, I read the policy on the Commandants CG Central website. It shows it as a new doc with a post date of 09/09 (can't remember date of the top of my head). I didn't see any glaring changes. It did rank order our missions with RBS being #1. I can't find my copy of the original on my home computer to compare with the new post. I will do so at work today and see if any difference.

The Auxiliary Policy Statement on uscg.mil is internally dated 2006 (right click on the document and then click Document Properties).

There was ALCOAST 038/07: AUXILIARY POLICY STATEMENT which might explain a document with a later date:

quote:
1. PRINTED COPIES (17IN X 11IN) OF THE COAST GUARD AUXILIARY POLICY STATEMENT WERE RECENTLY MAILED TO ALL COAST GUARD UNITS. THREE SIGNIFICANT TYPOGRAPHICAL/FORMAT ERRORS WERE MADE IN THE STATEMENT DURING THE TRANSCRIPTION/PRINTING PROCESS. DISCARD THESE COPIES. NEW COPIES WILL BE DISTRIBUTED AS SOON AS THEY ARE AVAILABLE.

The ranking or RBS as the #1 mission goes back to the original document.
