Basic Training |
Am putting together a training session for people wanting to work in the Marine Safety area that require a safety boot. Would like to include instructions on the proper way to blouse the boots. I blouse mine the way active taught me, however want to review the regulations/policy to ensure that what I am teaching is correct.
Does anyone know where the policy/instruction are posted? Thanks Bruce |

Should be able to find it here:
CG Uniform Regulations Manual The way I do it is I connect the blousing band around my boot, lower the cuff of the pants down past the band, and then I tuck the hem of the pants up under the blousing band. Kevin |

Thanks, you and I blouse the same way. Checked the manual you referenced (dated 2003) It describes blousing above the boot. Seem to remember some ALCOST that described blousing to include the boot lace knot. Seems either way the tucking pants into boots is not correct. Thanks for your help. Bruce |

A bad day on the water beats a good day at the office. |
The Uniform Distribution Center (UDC) web site has both a power point presentation and a video showing proper wear of the ODU. Slide #7 of the PPT shows the boot blousing, and says the band should go between the 1st and 2nd eyelets. With the prohibition against wrist watches, rings, metal insignia, and anything that might get caught during operations, it also makes sense not to have exposed boot laces.

Blouse OVER the knot. If you tuck the knot behind the rim of the blousing band, it will keep it inside the pants leg.
Never blouse above the boot. Looks bad, cuts off cirulation. |
