I probably shouldn't jump into the fray but here goes. Katie Couric is a national news anchor, hosting a show on a fairly conservative network covering national news. She's tasked with being perceived as an authority on global news issues. She's dressed equivalent to her male counterparts who wear business suits.

Stacy on the other hand is hosting a show about boating. It would be strange for her to be in a blazer. I don't see anything wrong with someone hosting a boating show in a long-sleeved, V-Neck Tee. Picture below shows host of Water Channel's Sailboat Showcase - not a V Neck but still just as casual.

As far as having a few segments now and again that are provocative, so what! It's great marketing. It's tough to build an audience and these segments can help to generate views--views that will come for the bikinis and stay for the rest of the content.

And I would think it's a great way for the Auxiliary to get some good Aux news out. Just like we're trying to do.

I think you're missing the point. The outfits worn on the Boat U.S. show are tight and plunging to draw attention to the host's breasts. That is unprofessional.

The photo you included from the Water Channel Showcase is more appropriate. She's wearing a very preppy golf shirt that actually fits her and isn't two sizes too small.

Depicting women as sex objects-- both as hosts and in cheesy bikini ice fishing stories alienates one-half of the population.

I'm not missing YOUR point. I just happen to disagree. I don't see her neckline as depicting her as a sex object. A V-neck t-shirt. Please. It was neither tight or plunging or two sizes too small. It didn't draw MY attention to her breasts. Obviously it drew yours.

Yeah.. OK... and the Pope is Jewish.

Now... here is the first sex kitten to host the show:

Maybe a little "figure envy" at play here?? Good grief...

FW, you must be in constant distress walking the halls at the office. Could post plenty of example pics from your network if you'd like.

Oh! - the horror!...

Here 'ya go...

And over in France, there's Mélissa Theuriau:

She was voted "most beautiful new reporter" and "TV's sexiest news anchor" by Daily Express and and Maxim. Also, the French FHM voted her "most beautiful woman in the world."
Applause

Melissa doesn't work for my company, and all the others you show are wearing blazers. The Maria shot was a glamor shot and not one of her on the air.

Now.. back to how inappropriate and unprofessional the Boat US program is.... or better yet. Let's talk about tillers.

How is yours, GeeJay? Do you have a long tiller or a short one?

FW, did you ever think they might be happy doing what they do?? I'll bet they don't really need you to try and reform the world to your way of thinking.
I know that I don't!

Again, you are attempting to sway the conversation towards "tillers" now. An obvious attempt to divert the conversation to an area where you think you could cause some controversy. Back to the topic at hand: This thread was started to bring our attention to a web cast of a decent boating show. You were offended by the apparent beauty this woman possesses with no fault of her own. She is not wearing anything distasteful or provocative. Her hair is simple, yet elegant and her make up is not over powering. Simple beauty.

Now comes in the fact that women and bikinis are ice fishing. There was nothing provocative about it. Simply beautiful women in bikinis ice fishing.

The commonality here is BEAUTIFUL WOMEN. God gave us that beauty. Are you faulting Him for that? With all possible respect FW, you are entitled to your opinion, but I think at this point, you are a little short sighted on this. If these women were doing something of a sexual conetation (sp?) with a fishing pole, then, I would agree with you but as it stands now, your opinion is NOT shared.

Tillers should be adaptable to the size of the slot.

Hooters girls and Playboy bunnies probably do as well, but that doesn't do anything to get rid of sexism. Speaking of Hooters... why don't they open a Peckers?

Yeah.. my opinion isn't shared-- because this forum is made up of 99-percent testosterone poisoned men. Smile

Now.. how big is your tiller?

See, Boats US can have an entire show on tillers. They could call it, "Tillers: Show us your wood"

Here's an interesting one. Double the fun?

This one seems well endowed.

Who says size doesn't matter? (Oh my, they're talking about the butt.. that's just... wrong!)

This one seems a bit stiff:

A little viagra might help this one:

P.S. Here's where you can get "tiller extenders" for your small "dinghy."

http://www.nauquip.com/fspartillerextensions.html

If you're getting on in years, check out the "Ocean Racer" model, " ... to help eliminate fatigue during extended use in heavy seas."

But the manufacturer cautions you, "Do not lubricate or wax your telescoping tiller extension. This may cause the lock to slip or prematurely wear out."

The company gives you detailed instructions in case it's been a while since you've used your tiller extension, "Mount the socket about two "hand-grips" back from the tip of the tiller extension. This allows you to hold the tiller with comfort when not using the extension."

What's odd to me is that it seems like you FW are the only one writing inappropriate sexist comments here, attempting to get people riled up.

Maybe the other guys here enjoy the insults and sexual banter but I don't so will move on until you insult the next video we produce, which I'm sure will happen.

I could say that my wife agrees completely with my assessment but then you'd probably insult her as well.

I think Stacy is dong a great job. Please let her know, Doug, from those of us at the Coast Guard Channel.

Yep, I sure am giving back the sexist comments. You don't like it Tam, do you? Makes you a little uncomfortable?

That was my point.

Now.. do tell me what your tiller is like!

And, I'm happy to critique your next video. Actually, I was going to discuss your Boys and their Toys video.. but I thought the subject matter (the boys profiled) was more ridiculous than the production content... so I weighed in on that instead.

FW, it must be a horrible existence to be so bitter...

TAM, keep up the good work. On a more positive note -- with content truly related to the USCG/Auxiliary... For the past few months, the D8CR AUXAIR progam (the aircraft based in Pensacola) has been giving USCG flight students awaiting their primary training slots (sometimes a 6 month wait after reporting for duty) their first experience in the cockpit -- serving as observers on actual USCG-ordered missions. Should you wish to do a feature, feel free to contact me and I'll get things coordinated with the USCG Liaison Officer to NAS Pensacola.

As you can see from some of these photos -- these new flight students-to-be are finding the program educational...as well as very enjoyable (smiles as evidence).

These flights included actual SAR cases, Rotor Wing Air Intercept (RWAI) Training missions, and Marine Environmental Protection (MEP) missions.

Regards.
