By some mircale from the budget gods, we've had an order of drysuits and mustang suits come in. My mustang fits and works great, the drysuit a Mustang MSD900 appears to fit perfectly, just one fairly big problem.

Is it normal for it to be bloody difficult to fit your hands through the cuffs? I've got a big frame and it's looking like I may have to go to the XXL (assuming we can get them) just to get my hands and head in but I'm worried the rest of that will be too big.

Anyone got good experience fitting these things?

VERY VERY tight is common with a dry suit. Try going up a side but don't let it have any openings where water can seap into it. Otherwise you have defeated the purpose.

I think I may have to, but given the difficulty in getting the first one, I'm not excited to try it. Is there any way to stretch the cuffs?

You can try. The only way I can think of is to put something a little larger that your wrist in it. Let is sit overnight and try it tomorrow. No gurantees, but the rubber will streach a bit.

I had exactly the same problem. I would think a rubber friendly lubricant (glycerin?) would help.

PS don't forget to fasten the crotch zipper. That can let in a bunch of water in a hurry. Don't ask. Roll Eyes

Errr. you have cut it to fit correctly. Right?
It is true that they are meant to fit very snuggly, but they are also supposed to be trimmed to fit your wrists and neck. That's by you see all the ribs in the wrists and neck rubber seal area.

The best way to do it is to stretch them over a can. Then cut 1 ring. Try the suite on. If it is still too tight, then cut another. Don't forget.... they SHOULD be tight, but should not be cutting of circulation.

You can also treat the rubber with a conditioner made for dry suits.

Apparently with the new ones there are two types, there are the neoprene seals which are not supposed to be trimmed and the rubber ones which are. At least there were two types when I was thinking of saving to buy my own.

Anyway, I did manage to get my hands through and got the entire thing on and zipped and it looks like I'm going to have to get a larger size anyway. I'm too tall for the XL.
