How were you treated when working along side with CG active duty and the reserves?

The AIRSTA I work with treats us very well. They truly consider us as part of their team and value the services that we provide.

Keys to success in such a relationship include looking and acting professional. Most of us (all who really do anything with frequency) opt not to wear office insignia on the flight suit. This goes a long way to generate respect (unlike another organization that wears unmodified insignia and uses titles of "rank") with our active duty team members -- as well as the other military pilots that we encounter in the FBOs and on the ramp. The use of proper radio procedure is another significant key to success -- whether in the air or on a surface OPFAC. Many times, the sole perspective of the active duty team members (Sector or Station OPS) is how you sound on the radio -- and what you say.

First impressions are lasting. Look proper, act professionally, carry yourself with confidence but yet with a humble spirit (displaying respect to ALL active & reserve personnel) , and use the radio correctly -- and more times than not, you will be received with dignity and respect by the active and reserve team members.

I was raised by the Marine Corps. A flight suit is a working coverall, and had no rank on it. It was also never worn off the flight line except between the BOQ and the flight line. If you lived off base, you maintained a locker at the squadron and changed when you got there. It was the Air Force which turned it into a status symbol, and unfortunately, the Coast Guard seems to have caught the virus. I am glad that you guys are revolting against wearing rank. Down here, the Uniform Nazi will grab you for being "out of uniform." In fact, the first rank I ever saw on an auxiliary flight suit was his, and it didn't have a little red "A".

Got caught up in what Fly and stuff said and didn't answer the question. I work in a section with a Commander, several Lieutenants, a couple of warrants, some retired warrants now working as civilians, a senior chief and a first class, and it is actually embarassing how well I am treated.

OK OK.. I admit.. That was funny you following me all over the post telling everyone our little secret... I did laugh my A off when I read them. Ok you won over my heart, I don't think your a bad person and infact your sence of humor leads me to apoligize for my rude comments to you. Just please leave the PSI out of it. We know it is something which frustrates you, and in part I do agree with some of your post. It was poorly handled. No were still going steady, but the date has to be set way off in the future. I hope someday you will reconsider.

Henry the eighth had the same problem with Anne Boleyn. But as his advisors pointed out, cuckold is a term used only when there is three in the relationship. When it's 5 or more, it's a different term used, --for the female.

Back on subject we always treated our Aux. members who braved the Bayous and Bays to serve with us in Grand Isle very well as they well deserved. There were however a few in other areas I served in who thought they should be treated like Officers, saluted and addressed by the rank they wore on their uniforms. Fortunately they never lasted and found out the hard way the rank did not cross over nor did it matter only their service and contributions as part of the team mattered. They never took away, at least in my mind, from the ones who were part of the team and made a difference for us in assistance and hard work for no money. Nah, I was just taking advantage while you and GJD were in bad way, and I know he'll be your main squeeze again when you get tired of WDZTM...
