The Army's dismissal of two researchers only shows that the military not only does not wish to take responsibility for the effects the of repeated deployments have on these men and women being asked to stand in harms way for the protection of our nation, but also does not want it advertised and maybe scare off potential recruits.
The time has come to hold accountable all our leaders both in the Pentagon and in the White House for the effects their decisions are having upon this Nation.

Couldn't agree with you more.

We've looked into the DoD procedures for treatment and management of psychological trauma cases and have basically gotten nowhere.

There have been many articles decrying the diagnosis and treatment (if any) of victims of psychological trauma, which may, over the longer term, bring some pressure on DoD. Let's hope so.

The good news here is that PTSD is now a diagnosable disorder, a battle which was fought by Vietnam vets many decades ago. So at least there is a landing spot for those who have given so much and who have suffered lifelong trauma in service to their Nation.

Thanks for you post and welcome to Living with PTSD.

From personal experience --

The DoD's procedure for treating psychological trauma, is -- pretend we're going to help you, find a bunch of things we can label you with, to make you seem 'nuts' or 'incurable' and discharge you.

I went for help in dealing with major depression, stemming from several concurrant events (one being the death of my child during birth). I went to the Chaplain initially, but he was out of his element and refered me to life skills -- that is where it all went to Heck in a handbasket.

The 'psyhcologist' (2 weeks from her disseration for her PhD, and 1 month in the service, and practicing as a psychologist) and my commander even tried to get me to stay with my ex-husband, who I was totally incompatible with -- and had left months earlier.

The DoD doesn't want to fix us, or help us, they want to put a bandaid us, and have us "play along" or boot you out, with medical problems, and psychological problems (that in my case, could have been helped, had I not been continually harassed for 18 months, and has since developed into PTSD).
