As a licensed mental health counselor in private practice, a five year USAF veteran, and a counselor to military personnel in Vietnam during the war, I heartily recommend the use of Thought Field Therapy (TFT) in recovery. I am currently treating combat veterans who are overcoming their startle responses, flashbacks, nightmares, anger, and other symptoms of PTSD. The process is non-invasive, very fast, and lasting. One does not even have to talk about their traumatic experience in order for it to be treated. In other words, one does not have to be re-traumatized! I have also worked with Gold Star mothers and fathers who are excited about how well TFT works. This is something I teach to my clients so they can help themselves and not have to become dependent on drugs or long-term therapy. Of course, I never tell a client not to use drugs prescribed by their doctor since that is a contract between them and their physician. You can get started learning how to do TFT for yourself by finding a book titled: Tapping The Healer Within, by Roger J. Callahan, Ph.D. If you need more than just the general algorithms offered in this book, you can obtain clinical help from therapists trained in TFT DIAGNOSIS. The servicemen and family members I treat are highly encouraged by this approach because they know if works well. I hope this information is helpful to you.
dude, right now I'd be happy if someone could just help me deal witht he stress. or should I say, with getting overwhelmed by less stress, more quickly, more thoroughly, and with slower recovery time, than do people not having this particular problem.
There are some ongoing studies in TFT. If you are interested in them, go here.
