I'm in the NG. Just last drill I had signed my DD368 and met with my Captain about it. He approved it. Later that day me and my platoon were all in the classroom. My platoon Sgt. comes in and starts asking everyone who wants to go to AAG school. He was basically volunteering us. Finally he asked me, and I said "Yes, Sergeant, however, I don't know if i'll still be here." He asks why and some other NCO spouts out "He's goin' into the Navy." The platoon Sgt. then looked at me and said "Are you ****in' serious. Turn around and look at that wall." I did as he said, but I thought to myself he's gotta be ****ing kidding. So I went to turn around and he said "What are you doing, look at that wall." Then I was ****ed. I didn't say anything to anymore, I am the type to just keep my anger to myself. So then later on he asks who wants to come in on non drill dates to operate the weapons systems. I volunteered and he said "you're goin' in the Navy, you don't need this." Then just ****ed me off. On top of that, there have been times when a Specialist would come up to me and say "I know why you're goin' in the Navy." then he'd blow a kiss at me. Rather than go to my EO I went straight to my IG. Because this problems are coming from my chain of command, I don't feel comfortable with going to any of them at this point. Is what happened hazing, and can I get in trouble for going to my IG with this?

In my opinion, no it is not hazing (and in all honesty if you think that was you may have a rough time in the Navy). But I'd go ask on the NG forums.
They're right, they have no reason to spend money on stuff for you if you're switching branches, as it doesn't benefit them. Part of the reason to send people to training is to benefit the command. In many states, NG works on very tight budgets, and it's a waste to taxpayers to spend unnecessary money. It'd be the same if you were getting out, unless it was an incentive to try to keep you in.
No, it's not hazing. Officially you most likely will not get in trouble for going to IG but then is when everyone in your platoon will go off on you.
My first thought when I read this was "are you for real?" You're going to get that much and maybe more when you get in the Navy. Shoot, we had a prior service guy come to one of my boats and he was immediately called a civilian reject.
Gotta agree with what has been said - it's not hazing. They view you as a "turn coat" or defector if you will.
You better have thicker skin than this in the Navy. I was a Navy spouse for over 24 years, I saw and heard a lot over the years. If these incidents have you ticked off, you'll never survive in the Navy.

I don't know that it will be worse in the Navy but it surely won't be better. My DH left the Navy to go in the Army and he's heard his share from both sides. Don't let it get to you, it won't be the last you hear about switching.
hey you cant take it to heart. it sucks royally, but its just like that. my daddy was a navy man,and i know that he went through that kind of crap, just as i did, and a lot of other people in the military. its just teasing. hazing is full metal jacket, and worse. not just razzing you for switching branches. perk up! im a navy brat that went army. i never hear the end of it lol its your life, your choice. dont let anyone make you feel bad for that.
IG is most likely going to return it to your chain of command for action. The IG has no command authority and only advises the command on current Army AR ect. Here's the Army's current policy on hazing.
You cannot get in trouble for making an IG complaint, although, using your commander's open door policy would've been a better start.
BTW, your conditional release isn't approved by your company commander but your brigade commander.
listen, wherever you go you've got to have a thicker skin and expect to get chewed on a little... especially since you didn't let him know off line that you were putting in a 368! you're lucky if they don't chew on you for trying to run that paperwork up without being counseled by your chain of command, starting at the squad/platoon... get rid of any half-assed attitudes you may have, do things right and toughen up or you won't make it anywhere. in fact, you should go make amends or your 368 paperwork may find itself kicked back or canned. good luck~
