gw526, I saw your other thread on the Investigator forum, and you have alot good and ligitimate questions, if you think about joining the Coast Guard I suggest that you go see a local recruiter.
I know, but I would like to be a little informed before I walk into a recruiters office. Those guys are the best trained salesmen in the U.S. No offense to any recruiters out there.

They don't need to "sell" you on joining the CG. There are more applicants then there are openings.
Don't confuse a CG recruiter with an Army recruiter.
That is good to know! I have never spoken to a coast guard recruiter. I just remember getting those daily phone calls from the army recruiter right after i graduated from high school. I will take the advice I have received and take a trip to the recruiters office.
