I have been speaking with the recruiter, I am curious what the Force Master Chief uses in determining the rate a PS is brought in at (PS3/PS2)

I spent 8 years AD Navy as an HM, seperated as an HM2 I been a Police officer for 4 years and work as an FTO and Boating Officer.

Help is appreciated but not a determination in my decision to join.

Thanks
Jay

Are you going to pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?

Many PS's are civilian LEO's or FF's.

I got out of the Army/USAR as a SGT/E-5 MP, and came into the CGR in 1986 as a PS2. I had two years as a fulltime LEO at the time.

I think you'll be fine.

You should be able to get in as a E-5 as a PS and definitely as an HS. The USCG is desperate for HS's and a PSU would love you. But a PS is more diverse and you could drill in diverse places doing diverse things. Choose your rate and seal your fate, but a good recruiter will give you what you want the USCG is wide open for PS2 billets, or so I have been told.

Jay;
The PS RFMC sits right next to me. He will look at your skills sets and experiences and compare them to the minimum skills required of a PS2, according to the "Enlisted Performace Quals." (your recruiter should be able to show you those). Hard to nail down particulars as we all look at a whole person concept on each package. Just remember that whatever he brings you in as, a good leader will look at those EPQs and makes sure he learns all of them up to and including the current grade. Best of luck.

I am just curious is all. I would love to come back in as an HS but I was told there were no billets in the PNW and PS whas the best route for me to go.

Is there a web link to the EPQ's that I would be able to access on my own, thanks again for the help

Tip;
I know this will shock a lot of people, but those are not the current ones. They stopped updating that manual a while ago and place all current EPQs on the learning portal. learning.uscg.mil

Is it to late to have a rate determination packet done if you already enlisted with an A school date for a another rate? When I came in the recruiter stated they werent taken PS at the time. I came in as an E3 with an A school date next year. Ive been a police officer for 7 years. Should I have waited until PS opened?
