Any comments on the PS RSWE test? I must say that I was dissappointed that I did not recognize a bunch of questions. There were a lot of Port Readiness & Contingency Planning questions on the PSC test. Also made a bunch of dumb errors

One common PS SWE question from the olden days was, "What is the minumum number of bolts in a flange?"

One unusual one was, "What flag is flown during helo ops?"

Having not taken a SWE since '99, I can imagine how the test has changed.

Jerry,
Those were the days...a lot of the same questions every year. The bolts in the flange, fire extinguishers, isle widths, emergency shutdowns, welding regs, sirens....etc...

Prior to 1990, those were on the PS3, PS2, and PS1 correspondence courses, and I saw them again on the PS1 SWE.

The "M" emphasis changed for PSs in '90, just prior to PSU deployments for ODS/S. The courses and SWE changed to more modern PS tasks.

I took the PS1 SWE in Saudi Arabia, and I was GLAD I brought the new correspondence courses with me to both study from and to help design concealed barricade positions on the port. I received accolades from both the Army and the Navy for that.

Does anyone remember how long it takes for the raw scores to come out? Or the final list. I seem to remember it took a while to come out last year (early Dec?).

"Design" and "construct" are two ENTIRELY different words, don'tcha know? (I'm practicing my new dialect for my new assignment in Milwaukee). Wink

Because both the Girl Scout Gold Award and the Boy Scout Eagle Scout awards allow the awardees to enter the CG at the E-3 level.

150 Questions.
If you get 75 right (50%) you are usually good to go with your knowledge and ready to promote/advance
If you get 100 right (66%) you are at the high end of the test takers and have a great chance
The highest I've seen for many tests is 120 (80%) and that is rare
Don't beat yourself up if you don't get an A grade on the test -- understand that it is not a college test, nobody gets 100%, and I don't think anyone ever gets an A -- even the test maker themselves, but the higher the score, the better chance of promotion.
There are lots of BS questions, but that separates the high burners from the average -- better test takers.....

And don't forget about the other factors:

TIG
TIS
Evaluations
Award Points

The first two, affectionally known as "Dinosaur Points", can push you WAY over the top.

Is everything still graded to the hundredth of a point? That would matter greatly, too.

Good luck to everyone!

Lets not forget the final factor.....luck. I've sat for several SWE's where my final standing wasn't the best, but they cleared the lists. Wink

AAHHH, do not let PSCM GS see the word "promotion"! He may beat you into submission until you say "Advancement" or "uncle". :0 Smile
