As you know, the Maritime Enforcement Specialist (ME) rating lateral solicitation closes Friday, 2 October. As of 18 September, PSC-rpm reported 30% of the 1,186 PSs have had their lateral packages received.
Pursuant to ALCOAST 348/09, every PS member must take action prior to 2 October. If the PS member does not initiate a selection (lateral to ME; lateral to legacy rating; IRR; request retirement) they will be placed in the Inactive Status List (ISL) when the PS rating is disestablished 31 December 2009.
Once in the ISL, the PS member will need to effect a change of rating request to ME or a legacy rating; if neither are initiated, the member will be released from the CG following their obligated service.
Part of the ME outreach RADM Riker and I are employing is to speak with enlisted and active duty members, and commands in our districts. Additionally, MCPO-CG Bowen, MCPO-CGRF Smith, RADM Riker, and I will be hosting an All-Hands ME video teleconference next week. (Details on the call forthcoming.)
HQ is now only projecting about 60% return on applications from PSs. I wonder what's going to happen then? That's a few hundred PS folks going to the IRR. I don't think these PSs that have failed to act realize how difficult it might be to get back into SELRES, especially if the open billets are regeared towards new accessions. I know it means possible advancement opportunities, depending on which PSs failed to act. I will get updates tomorrow during the ME teleconference. Fired off SEVERAL questions, which I hope can get answered.
Thanks JerryG. Many of the questions did get answered, but some didn't during the teleconference...just not enough time. However, they did say all the questions submitted to the Townhall would get answered on the ME blog. I will do a summary of the teleconference and send it out to all my folks and anyone else interested.
For me, I am attempting to integrate AD once I am officially an ME. Should be enough MEC openings to get approved. I have 22 years in, but only 14 AD. HOwever, I sit for the E8 RSWE in OCT, and like my chances to be in the running for E8, so I have to strategically pick the right time to request integration and not lose my chance at E8. If I am approved as an MEC to integrate, I will be removed from the MECS Reserve eligibility list. However, if I have to take an E8 exam in May, I should be fine then. We'll see how it all pans out!!!!
Well Master Chief, I was on EAD from 2001-2007, back in SELRES from JAN08-JAN09, ADOS-RC from JAN-JUL09, and now on Title X until 30SEP10, with another year expected unless approved for integration. I have always had a break between EAD contracts as well as ADOS and Title X, albeit usually 48 hours or less. I hope this helps.

Check the PERSMAN requirments about eligibility for E-8 regarding continous AD service.
That's why I hope integration occurs immediately. I will just have to test for E8 on AD in May if approved. Otherwise, I will continue on Title X for a bit, advance as a MECS off the RSWE, and then head back to the SELRES. Thanks.
