I've run through alot of PS's through A school, and I had a quick question. I am getting transfered to Alameda this summer, and I was wondering where is a decent, safe and affordable place to live in the bay area. I am thinking of renting an apartment or possibly taking a roommate. I'm still trying to decide. Any info would be helpful.

Senior Chief,
Start with the ISC Alameda housing site:
http://www.uscg.mil/MLCPAC/ISCALAMEDA/housing/ I think you have to get a release from Gov't quarters before you can go out on the economy.

As far as finding places to live, try craigslist for the SF Bay Area: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/

Good luck

I know of a few Coasties who live out in Concord. It seems like a little bit of a drive, but they don't complain too much.

Dont know how any of you guys in the Bay Area keep your head above water. I grew up in NYC and thought that was expensive.
