I revcntly spoke to a recruiter who told me that he has one PS billet. That unit is a Maritime Safety Unit. Can anyone tell me what the duties of a PS would be at a MSU? How will duties differ from those of a PS at a PSU? how will these duties differ from other possible units? Also can anyone tell me where I can find a complete list of the locations of PSU's?

thanks!

A PS at a Marine Safety Unit can work in the Port Opns Department conducting facility inspections, vessel inspections, cargo monitors, oil pollution and HAZMAT release investigations.

PS's in the I & I Shop (Inspections and Investigations) conduct more in-depth vessel exams and may conduct marine casualty investigations (allisions, machinery and personnel accidents, etc.)

PS's may conduct harbor patrols and port security patrols.

Hope this helps.

You forgot to tell about the PSU, PS's:
Dig fox holes (PQS sign off)
Shoot big guns ie M-2(50 cal) and M-240Bravo
Learn DOD's Rules of Engagment
Attend Basic Skills Course at Marine Corp Base Camp LeJuene.
Live on MRE's
Live in TENTs on Deployments w/o AC
Wear Camo's and Deserts Uni's

Need I go on or do you have the picture, I found it fun but very little to do with the Blue CG.

Ohh, also your work under the Navy in OCONUS missions. Wink

Dig fox holes (PQS sign off) They were called "fighting positions" when we went to CSC '90 at Quantico.
Shoot big guns ie M-2(50 cal) and M-240Bravo Though bigger than the PDW, both are still considered "small arms".
Learn DOD's Rules of Engagment
Attend Basic Skills Course at Marine Corp Base Camp LeJuene.
Live on MRE's About one a day is all that's needed.
Live in TENTs on Deployments w/o AC Although, I once saw a tent with AC.
Wear Camo's and Deserts Uni's

PS's also work at Small Boat Stations. Locally, there is a Harbor Patrol Detachment (sort of a Reserve MSST) that has quite a few PS's assigned to it. They have their own 25's, M240B's, etc. They support the STA they are co-located with and are used for surge ops for large events in the area.

As for unit locations: PSU's

Mr. Crisp,
Respectfully,Sir, I wouldn't say we work UNDER the Navy. Wink We do, however, work alongside our nautically challenged brethren with a Navy Officer in overall command.

Obie-1:
I stand corrected! hahaha How is everything going? Busy here. I would assume that you all are also. I met up with Kyle last week and he said to tell everyone hello. Pass the world to Rodney.

Thank you for telling me know how the duties contrast. Can you tell me where some PSU's are located or where I can find a list. I am looking for one near North Carolina.
