I am currently trying to decide if I am going to stay a YN2 or transfer to PS. I know that once I go PS I can no longer integrate to active duty, which I do not see in the future, but I never know what lies ahead. Some people have suggested BM, but said it is a hard rate to do as a reservist. Any suggestions?
But as a PS, you can still do EAD or ADSW. Advancement potential is probably better as a PS vice YN at least to 1st class - maybe even to Chief, PS being a larger rating than YN.
Take time and read the RPM on the lateral process.
Go check out what the PS-types do in your area. Keep in mind that PS's are more likely to get deployed, depending on their billets.
One little side note: if you do decide to go PS, remember that the talk about the LE rate might happen down the road (maybe closer than we think) but the PS's I believe will be absorbed into that rate. And you will be given the opportunity to go active. Something to think about.....
