I am writing a graduate paper on risk assessment and management and have chosen port issues especially containers. I have been out of the Coast Guard for 35 years and don't have a good frame of reference on the issue.
I was wondering if anyone here could point me toward some good info that is not opsec sensitive.
Pat, I would suggest looking through the Naval Institute Proceedings, and also seeing what maritime industry and shipping trade journals might be available. The Navy League Seapower magazine might be a source. You can always try and see if there are any public reports in the Government Printing Office website, and or the local Federal document repository - ususally this a is a local public or college/university library.
Where's Mark Wood when you need him? I hope he's doing well. --Rick
Thanks for the tip (no pun intended) I did not think of Proceedings as a source but that makes perfect sense. I found a great report by Rand Corp. as well as some useful info from the CBP website.
My professor changed topics on us a week before the paper is due (I would never do this to my students) so I picked containers because I have always thought they posed a problem.
I haven't been over on the other board but I think Marcus Leftcoastus is doing just fine.
