On the eve of the 67th anniversary of one of history's greatest naval victories, an old Hooligan would like to doff his cap to the men of the US Navy. The selfless courage shown by LCDR John C. Waldron and the men of TORPRON Three (USS Yorktown), TORPRON Six (USS Enterprise) and TORPRON Eight (USS Hornet) was perhaps matched only by the sight of the reserve-manned small boys of Taffy Three charging out of the squall at Leyte toward the Yamato and her 18-inch rifles, their little 5-inch pop guns blazing away.
