To All, I'm not a frequent poster to your Navy forums but wanted to share some news from MNotW (my neck of the woods).
Happily, overdue recognition of the U.S. Navy presence and involvement of the D-Day Landings is now to be made true by the recent review at the Naval Order Congress in Monterey, CA. NPGS. Excerpt from the review: Navy Normandy Monument Project Underway By Captain Gregory Streeter, USN (Ret.) "Sixty-three years following the largest naval operation in world history, the invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944, the only service not recognized by any monument or memorial at Normandy is the United States Navy. Hundreds of ships and thousands of men were involved in transporting allied forces from England to Normandy in the largest armada ever assembled, in constructing and operating artificial harbors and in supplying the forces once they were ashore. Walking the beaches of Normandy today and observing the many plaques and monuments there will give little clue that the U.S. Navy ever was there..." Honors To Them... _____________________________________________________________ A good time to help a just cause for the 133rd Seabees (Can Do!!!) of Iwo Jima/WWll, please take time to sign the online petition so they may receive the long overdue honor of the PUC (Presidential Unit Citation). THANK YOU. From a Veteran's Son, Brother & Father. This message has been edited. Last edited by: GoldenSabers, |
