I have a pair of Libery Cuff Patches that I acquired and cannot find what the image on them refers to, if it refers to anything at all. It is two white unicorns with their horns touching with the background of what appears to be the rising sun of the Japanese flag. The unicorns are standing on a blue surface. Any information would be helpful. Thank you.

Greg,
Nothing comes to mind from the description. Can you post a picture of them...maybe that will help. There are all sorts of them around, left over from the "good old days" when sailors wore dress blues on liberty.
Some of these were made and sold at civilian uniform shops, or locker clubs (who remembers those?). Some were custom made overseas, for a particular group, ship, shop, or whatever, as were some of the patches.

Nothing quite like an old time sailor on liberty in a foreign port wearing tailor mades, with liberty cuffs and a custom bent white hat!

I know that my liberty cuffs didn't mean anything. They were just dragons. I missed moving away from that uniform. It was tailor made in Hong Kong for maybe $20, had a hidden zipper in the pants fly and a hidden zipper down the side of the jumper. It fit great but was easy to get into and, more importantly, out of.

Right Tink!!.. Like the two Seven Seas on lower Broadway in San Diego, where I bought my Dragon liberty cuffs after boot camp.

No kidding Tink, I had a set made in Spain in 70, boy did they look good.. But they sure were hot when I landed late at night at Hickman AFB on a MAC flight on my way to SSqdrn 15 and my assignment to a Boomer out of Pearl.

Hey...I see the guy in the back row, with the shades has a hot chick giving him the eye.

All kinds of uniform violations (but cool looking) cuffs rolled up, liberty cuffs, tailor mades, knot at adams apple level...typical sailors on liberty.

(Nice pic!)

I had liberty cuffs i one set of blues. I had a gorilla holding a swab on the right side, and the US Flag on the left side. We had a retired BMC in Little Creek who used to sell them and other things out of his van.

Who remembers the "Seven Seas locker club" on Broadway in San Diego?
Broadway sure has changed since the old days.

Not only Broadway but the entire area. I was just back there about six months ago and almost didn't recognize the place.

I had the American flag on the right cuff and a submarine dolphins on the left. For some odd reason, my cracker jacks don't fit anymore. Must have shrunk in my parents' basement after I GTFO in 1991! Big Grin
