I'm a PCPO that is going through CCTI right now. My one goal was to get one charge sheet from every rate in the Coast Guard. I was told by Most Honorable Master Chief Six that there are no MU that are on active duty that have gone through CCTI. Can anyone tell me if there are any MU in the past that have gone through CCTI. THANKS PCPO

I know of two retired MU honorables, one in which wrote the Chief's March. I am not sure but I do believe he is reachable, call one of the MU's at the Academy? There will also be a PCPO MU going thru next CCTI

Safety;
Do you really want to get a charge sheet from a AST3, AET3, AMT3, BM3, OS3, AST2, AST1, etc etc etc? Here is my charge to you. Send me an email to my work email explaining why I asked that question. Explain it here too. As a PCPO - that is not an acceptable error your made! |

Imagine how good the CG would be if all you PCPOs would put this much time into your real jobs. Stop wasting your and all these other CPOs time trying to get signatures, like a 14 year old girl with her yearbook.

ahhh
Spoken like two definite Non Chiefs. That's OK though, you are entitled to be ignorant on this subject. Actually, you are pretty much expected to be ignorant. That is why we have the CCTI process. Maybe - if someday you ever become a Chief - the reasoning will become aparent to you. |

I do plan on advancing to E7 eventually, but from my limited understanding of the subject do not plan on being a "chief". Pays the same from what I hear.

That's your choice. Feel free to get ahold of me now, or then, and I will be happy to improve your understanding. You would be very hard pressed to find a Chief who would tell you it is not well worth it. |

BHC;
Consider the points stolen. You want extra credit? Name a place you have been where my name was on a prominently displayed plaque that will remain there for the life of the unit. (I'll give you your points when you start YOUR CCTI process) |

If by "raging success" you imply that my unit, people and responsibilities will be well taken care of, then I heartily appreciate the vote of confidence; However if you meant that because i disagree with participating in a satellite fraternity (that has taken it upon itself to confer the title of "chief" on its worthy members) that I will surely fail in my future Coast Guard endeavors I pity your view and hope it is not as contagious as it appears.

You should talk to some Chief's who have been through the process and others that havent. I see that you're at LORAN duty and likely don't have a large CPO Mess there. I'd be happy to discuss it with you off line, I'm in the global. I assure you it's more than a satellite fraternity and there is much to gain. It's a voluntary program so it's your choice, just don't sell yourself short. Best Wishes in your persuit of your Anchors. Cheers! |

Gathering from the other site. A relatively simple ritual that lasted a few hours, that marked a change of uniform and entry into the CPO "fraternity", has evolved into a fairly drawn out, time consuming evolution. Perhaps it is one of those service connected "traditions" whose time has passed, and is no longer relevant to the advancment process. It was struggling for relevance 25 or so years ago, and may just not hold any meaning to the present day.
Either way, good luck in your endeavour towards the hat. This message has been edited. Last edited by: MastersMate, |
