I was B 7 2 at Fort Campbell April 1971.. I just recently tried to locate the area however I was told that these barracks were removed a few years ago.. I am from Virginia, however I moved to Western Kentucky about a year ago & I always wanted to visit Fort Campbell again.. It took me 41 years..lol.. I also will drive to Fort Sill someday to rekindle memories.. Rick McGehee
I was at Ft. Campbell June 18 1971, Co. C 6 2. "Chargin Charlie"
I took BCT at Ft Campbell KY Jan-Mar 1971. I was in E 3 1, in the 101st cinderblock battalion size buildings. They were better than the old T buildings and had a great messhall attached. It was a very cold and snowy winter then with snow on the ground during most of our training. We had to dig out our foxholes at the rifle range. The only good thing was night fire was a full moon and reflecting on the snow was light daytime. I actually went back in 2000 right before I retired and walked back through the same building but it was an Evac Hospital quarters but still in good shape. I remember running a lot of miles on "Screaming Eagle" BLVD....oooooaaah!
