There is very little info and photo record on the net about this place fondly known as Wilkins. I started a facebook discussion with pictures and maps along with topics by Bldg #. If you have a FB account please search for Wilkin Barracks and add to the history. This is about the units and the base not so much the individual, I am leaving that for the unit web sites to discuss. Wilkin was in US control from some time after WWII till abt 1992. Since 1992 it has been demolished, plowed and rebuilt for the civilian world. It now has a market, building supply like a Home Depot, a gas station where the front gate was, an office bldg with more construction to come. When I was there in 2007 the Boot Tree by the baseball field was still standing and hope it always will. The base/post is now gone but I do believe it's memory lives on. That's where you come in... pictures and stories are now the legacy of Wilkins and I want to see to it that our history in Kornwesthein is somehow preserved.

If you know a unit by full title, building, and time that served there please post it here or on FB. If you have pictures of Wilkin Barracks (not the party pictures in your room,LOL) please post them or send them to me in e-mail with permission to post. This is not for any specific Unit, Company, or Bn, but rather for ALL ... each and every one... a public record. Please don't just let your memory and your pictures just fade away ... make them count!!!
