You can take this to the bank. You can bet this has nothing to do with Democrats caring for the troops. It's all about politics and trying to run the budget through the roof. Watch, during the campaign run for Democrats, they will now be playing up the high cost of the budget. It's only politics for Democrats.
It's like Wrangle's call for a draft. He doesn't give a rip for the draft, the military or the war. He is only trying to scare moms. It's only politics for Democraps. Still, it's good to see help for the troops, even if only temporary. If demoncraps get the White House in 08, these increases will be cut, just like they have for all Democrat administrations. It's only politics for Democrats. PS: They won't win the White House in 08, however. |

from the census data
click here 2005 Veterans 23,427,584 2000 Veterans 26,403,703 difference 2,976,219 less than before and there has been an 80% Increase in VA funding for almost 3 million less veterans and bush was increasing the budget again not decreasing it . It lying fruitcakes that listen to moonbats that are getting this all wrong. YEAH PEOPLE LIKE YOU HOW DOES IT FEEL TO ALWAYS BE WRONG? Here are that factual numbers from the Budget Office http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget/fy2008/veterans.html Total, Outlays in MILLIONS 2006 ---- 2007 ---- 2008 69,809 -- 72,327 -- 83,290 ITS ABOUT F'N TIME YOU STFU MOUSE. If you repeat someone elses lie does it make you a liar as well? does it make you look stoopid, does it make you look like you don't know wtf your talking about ok now lets explain the 2 groups that clog up the VA Priority Group 5 (P5) Veterans without SCDs or with noncompensable SCDs rated zero percent disabling who are living below VA’s means-test thresholds; veterans who are receiving VA pension benefits; and veterans who are eligible for Medicaid benefits. Priority Group 8 (P8) Veterans without SCDs or with noncompensable SCDs rated zero percent disabling who have a net worth above both VA’s means-test thresholds and HUD’s geographic index so going by the CBO Its obvious the vast majority of VA people who are on the dole do not have ANY Service connected issue as to why they are going to the VA. ITS CALLED SOCIALIZED MEDICINE OR ABUSE This message has been edited. Last edited by: wayoutfront, |

Actually, "Bush" hasn't increased anything. The budget comes from the Legislative Branch, not the Executive Branch (the President obviously has to sign it, but it would be political suicide to veto because of "too much money" for veterans.) When it comes to the military, generally Republicans will allocate more money for defense spending on equipment, and Democrats will allocate more money for pay raises, health care etc. There is obviously an argument of which is better for the military, but it is just as ignorant to believe the Republicans WANT to spend more money on personnel as it is to believe that Democrats WANT to spend more money on equipment. That is just the nature of the beast. |

wow and you normally come across as having some knowledge The President presents his budget to congress Now that said President Bushs Budget has always increased VA funding for veterans and DOD funding for quality of life for servicemembers and your bottom paragrapgh is just as ludicrous as Mouses initial post |

The President presents a budget "request" to Congress - they have the power of the pursestrings, not him. Any increase or decrease comes from them (which is how they were able to increase the VA numbers above what he requested). I'm sure you realize this, so don't see where the argument is.
As far as the second paragraph, call it ludicrous if you want - just shows that you actually believe all the crap that politicians dish out. In the last 22 years I've seen Republican Administrations propse paltry pay increases for the troops, and watched Democratic Administrations cut weapons programs by huge amounts. Again there is an argument on both sides on which is worse for the military. Both courses of action are all about politics; I don't believe for one second that either side actually spends a whole lot of time worrying about what is best for those that serve this country. They worry about what gets them re-elected. |

Thanks Ken for saying NOTHING
Do you want to go on record and say the PRESIDENTS BUDGET Ram rodded through by a REPUBLICAN COINGRESS did not give The VA an 83 % Increase in funding? OR The Presidents DOD bidget ramrodded through by a REPUBLICANS didn't give serving mebers of the miltary the largest Pay increase in your generation. Thats what you just said, so just go on record and confirm it, Please........ I will eat your lunch on this one. It thoroughly stinks of high heaven that this president will not even get the credit he dserves regarding the military and veterans You may can out smart me, but you will never outsmart the publishd budgets requests by the pres and/or budgets passed for each year. Op ed be damned there are actual factual documents that show everything regarding these matters that are not open to "interpretation" |

I don't even know what budget you are talking about. It can't be this year's budget because we don't have a Republican Congress. But I will go on record as saying anything that you want me to say. I get it, I get it. Republicans care about the troops, Democrats don't. Republicans are the saviors of the universe, Democrats are the anti-christ. The fact that anyone believes either political party never ceases to amaze me. You win, you have "handed me my lunch". You can now go back to your regularly scheduled program. |
