Based on a quick look at the biographies of active LtGen's on the usmc.mil site, I'm almost positive there aren't any Marine 3 stars based in Maryland. Not to mention the awkwardness of referring to yourself as "a Lieutenant General of the US Marines".

The Marine Corps has 15 three star generals on active duty. 10 of the 15 are based in VA or DC. The rest are in Hawaii, California, Louisiana, North Carolina, or Okinawa.

None of them are "based in Maryland".

If you can get a name, it's very easy to confirm.

Buddy of mine did "accidentally" impersonate an officer in Iraq. He got sent to escort a PUC to Baghdad for a couple days and apparently people in the Green Zone need to get out more because they didn't realize that not everyone who wears a flight suit is an officer. Of course he conveniently took off the lance criminal insignia to smooth things along. Claims he had a bunch of Army guys tripping over themselves to show him to his room and point out where the chow hall was.

You have to be pretty dense to claim to be a three star. You should know someone is going to check that out. Especially with all the "snoops" we have here. And I mean that in a positive way. They keep us honest.

Speaking of Generals

Walmart Greeter

Charley, a new retiree greeter at Walmart, just couldn't seem to get to work on time. Every day he was 5, 10, sometimes 15 minutes late. But he was a good worker, really tidy, clean shaven, sharp minded and a real credit to the company and obviously demonstrating their "Older Person Friendly" policies.

One day the boss was in a real quandary about how to deal with it.
Finally, he called him into the office for a talk.
"Charley, I have to tell you, I like your work ethic, you do a bang on job, but your being late so often is quite bothersome."

"Yes, I know boss, and I am working on it."

"Well good, you are a team player. That's what I like to hear. It's odd though, your coming in late. I know you're retired from the Armed Forces. What did they say if you came in late there?"

"They said, 'Good morning, General. Tea or coffee this morning, sir?'"

Well there aren't any "General Bennett"s in the Marine Corps today, of any number of stars.
