I'm not immortal. Well, I guess I already knew that. But if people with a great deal of money have sudden deaths, I'm thinking... "what are my chances?"
Generally speaking I have felt I'm in excellent health. And ordinarily, I wouldn't worry about such things. But a couple of weeks ago I had a physical and some special test (Calcium Score), that my doc recommended. Turns out the calcium score was in the 90th percentile (meaning only 10% have a higher score). In this case, high score isn't good. My doc said I might want to consider a CCTA (Coronary CT angiogram). But also told me that the test wasn't covered by medical coverage. I'd have to pony up the $1000 for the test. Well, I had recently had a heart monitored stress test and did well (doc said that's a good sign), so I figured... Nah! I'm not going to spend the money on something I might not even need. Well, after these recent deaths of Russert and Carlin, I'm rethinking that poor logic. I guess if there is a moral here it's, "there's no point in going to see a doctor, if you are going to ignore their recommendations." My CCTA test is scheduled for next Wed. PS: Does that officially makes me a hypochondriac? |

I guess the only thing to do is not devote your life to being an asshole.

The closer to li'l Stu coming into the world, the more I am considering my habits: Skoal, cigars, copious amounts of Jim Beam, etc.
The Harley stays, though! Anyone know how to put a car seat in a side car? |

See where Japan is doing massive health and weight regs with many fines and loss of jobs if not comply.
Guess we need to do massive morning exercize musters, all people do exercizes at work and get great health care.....oh wait, that was late 80's and early 90's thinking. Now making mass money, cutting jobs is America's goal! Die Rich....and you'll be on the news, die poor or a troop in sandbox...you'll be a number if even that. |

Medical researcheres are saying if you are alive 15 years from now, you may live to well over 100. You may be made up of spare parts and electronic devices, but you will be alive.
On the other hand, my dad never went to a doctor until we had to take him at age 98. He's 100 now. Maybe there's something to be said for staying away from them. Doctors are not healers anymore. All they are trained to do is push pills. My daughter is a RN. The biggest book she had in nursing school was on drugs. |

Coming from someone who had a Heart Attack 18 months ago I would get one if you feel you need it. Peace of mind does count in these things...
