There is a basketball player on the Iowa Hawkeyes team that's sporting a huge EGA on his shoulder.

He never went to boot camp, He got that tatoo to honor his brother he is a Marine.

How about a guy that had "Mother" tattooed on their arm. It's likely he never had a kid either. Wink

Doesn't make any difference to me. Some may see it as an insult, others an honor.

I think its a total honor for this guy to wear the EGA in honor of his Marine brother.

If we look at most "sports" figures today, they are covered in tattoo's that symbolize everything from drugs to gangsters.

This guy sported the EGA..I say outstanding.

I think it's an honor and he is definitely wearing it as such. He obviously isn't trying to claim the title as he seems to have his brother's initials below the EGA.

Yeah, I think he's just doing it to honor his brother and the Corps. No problem here.

Good kid, in college, involved in scholastic sports, respects his family and respects the service of Marines. He is a kid that did not realize what the EGA means to a Marine. If he did maybe he would have found a better way. He means no disrespect but the total opposite.

Well the kid probably doesent run around trying to say he is a Marine. Its all about showing honor to his brother, I agree no problems with it here.

I had a problem with it Wink! The first time I noticed it was when Iowa beat Michigan State, the Marine Corps emblem gave them an unfair advantage. To add insult to injury I thought they might think the kid was an airwinger. Big Grin Big Grin

I have no problem with it as long as he isn't claiming to be a Marine. I can see where he might have a problem if he should decide to join the Corps, when he first enters boot camp. Even then I think he would be OK after the Drill Instructors learned the why of it.

As to the Hair cut reminding anyone of a winger. All I can say is not when I was in.
