"You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children (America), the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children's children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done."

Marine Cpl. James Wright, who received the Bronze Star Medal with valor device from Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz, salutes during the national anthem at the June 1 presentation ceremony in front of the Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington, Va. Wright lost both hands and suffered severe damage to his leg when his vehicle was struck by an enemy rocket-propelled grenade in Iraq's Anbar province. quote:
This night I pray
I pray for my brothers and sisters
I pray for their safe return
I pray for their families
I pray for the power to carry on when they are gone.

I also pray for our President, that has the American people behind him in this time of grief.

...for you have carried the weight of the world upon your shoulders. America will be forever greatful for your sacrifice. They are in a better place. In our own time, we shall meet these heroes once again. As for us Marines, we shall take our post next to our brothers on the streets of heaven. When I get there, I will buy a drink for you and Chesty.

May you never be forgotten. Frown

Bumping this up, I have read through it each time I have come here, and I still get that dang eyeball sweat, but it just make me realize how lucky I am to live in a country where brave souls like these Give there all so I can live in a free nation.
