Im seeing if anyone else received a phone call today to have your information updated for the IRR. Seems a coincidence I received this phone call only 10 hours before President Obama announced the death of Bin Laden. Does anyone on these forums know if something is going on?

Im 0341, got out 2.5 years ago after four years.
Seriously, unless you plan on working for free, there will not be any recalls for quite some time. There is a whole restructuring in progress and there will be eliminations in the future. ADOS funds in the reserves have been cut (at least at our Regiment) to 50% of last years' and our 1st Bn is next out of the chute.
We (Marine Corps) have always done more with less "We have accomplished so much with so little for so long, that now we can accomplish anything, with absolutely nothing". These days are returning, we have had a decade of being spoiled...new gear, new uniforms, etc. There is talk floating around about CLI (career length issue) to get a grip on the..."I broke a buckle/snap on my pack, oh just turn it in for a new pack.
So I doubt there are going to be any recalls anytime soon, any extra funds are being spent on paper to document and process out the undesireables.
Yeah I asked some of the guys from my platoon and they didnt get a call either so I think everyone is right here in that it was just a fluke.
Thanks for messaging though even if you where just guessing. If I have to go back I will, its just the entire leaving life on hold thing that Im sort of dreading if it happens. I did four voluntarily, even though I agreed to four more inactive it's not like I had planned on it actually being used as does everyone else who does get recalled. But thats the military and certainly thats the Corps! But I will admit I would make the best of it if it did happen because yes I do miss a lot of things about the Marines, but Im 28 now and just ripped my hamstring to hell on a 1.5 mile run on Easter Sunday! Still on crutches. Im getting old or its the premature arthritis we all have from our beloved corps.
