McCain take 5 point lead over Obama, across all demographics. And they even say McCain will be better at handling the economy.

A month ago, Obama had a 10 point lead.

Reuters/Zogby Poll: McCain Makes a Move, Takes 5-Point Lead Over Obama

Say what you will about Republicans making a muddle of governing, but they sure know how to campaign. The turn of events that John McCain and his team have engineered in recent weeks is one of the most significant events of the campaign and now poses a serious threat of an upset this fall.

In just a few short weeks, they have not only thrown Barack Obama on the defensive and made him seem smaller but they have also made McCain seem larger and more commanding. And it has not just been one event but a string of them that they have tied together to propel McCain upward — from the ads (which most of us in the media didn’t like) to the way McCain seized upon the drilling and Russian issues to his winsome performance at Saddleback. The capacity to create issues and momentum practically out of the ether is the sign of a strong campaign. Both McCain and his team are impressing voters.

And the results are now showing up in the polls: not only are some key states like Ohio breaking toward McCain but the Reuters/Zogby poll today showed McCain opening up a 5-point national lead — and stunningly, voters said in that survey that he would be better handling the economy than Obama! That is the bread and butter issue for the Democrats, one they should be able to seize upon to capture seats up and down the ticket.
And from Zogby
quote:
And McCain not only enjoys a five-point edge in a two-way race against Obama, but also in a four-way contest including liberal independent candidate Ralph Nader and Libertarian Bob Barr, the poll reveals. In the four-way contest, McCain wins 44% support, Obama 39%, Barr 3% and Nader 2%.

This latest Reuters/Zogby poll is a dramatic reversal from the identical survey taken last month – in the July 9-13 Reuters/Zogby survey, Obama led McCain, 47% to 40%. In the four-way race last month, Obama held a 10-point lead over McCain.
America IS paying attention. Obama is losing ground over all demographics.

I guess it depends on which poll you are looking at. I saw one today that still have Obama with a slight lead, so who knows. It is my opinion that it still too early to worry about polls. I think that after the conventions and debates we might have an idea who is ahead. I think it will be close all the way.

I guess it's a relative thing. The very same poll, just last month, had Obama with a 10 point lead. And all other polls, as a minimum, show the same trend of Obama losing support.

He will definitely get a bump on Saturday, but unless he chooses Hillary, it's all uphill for Obama.
